Krishna Kids Contest 26 at Basil Woods Juniors – Chembur.
Celebrate the divine spirit of Sri Krishna Janmashtami by enrolling your child in the Krishna Kids Contest 2026—a unique celebration of culture, creativity, and devotion for children aged 0 to 12 years. Designed across four age groups, the contests include Pauranik Competition, Colouring, Bhagavad Gita Shloka Recitation, Bhajan & Kirtan, Drawing, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, and Bhoga Offering, giving every child an opportunity to showcase their talents while deepening their connection with India’s rich spiritual heritage. Inviting Parents to encourage their kids to participate, celebrate together as a family, and create lasting Sri Krishna Janmashtami memories through fun, learning, and devotion.

Pauranik Costume Competition — All groups (0+ months)
- Participants are expected to dress up as any Pauranik character (Lord Krishna or anyone from Krishna’s Past Time).
- Younger participants (Gopalas) will be assessed based on their dressing.
- Older participants (Keshavas, Govindas & Madhavas) will be assessed based on their dressing, their introduction to the character they are portraying, and the props they carry.
- Judgement Criteria : Handmade & ecofriendly costumes, Innovative presentation, confidence & stage presence, Character presentation, overall appearance. For Seniors: Dialogue & introduction.
Coloring — All groups (3+ years)
- A themed coloring sheet will be provided by the organizers on the day; sheets brought from outside, or pre-colored/traced entries, will not be accepted.
- Participants must bring their own writing pad, coloring materials (crayons, sketch pens, water colours or pencil colors).
- Duration : 1 Hour
- Judgement Criteria : Neatness, Colour choices, creativity, colour staying within the outline, completion & overall presentation.
Bhagavad Gita Shloka — Keshavas, Govindas, Madhavas (3+ years)
- Participants must recite a shloka from Bhagavad- gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada, chosen from the 10 shlokas in the provided link.
- For the translation, please refer to Bhagavad Gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada. Either our tune or any tune is acceptable.
- Using printed text or cue cards during recitation is not permitted.
- Judgement Criteria: Pronunciation, clarity, and confidence.

Bhajan and Kirtan — Keshavas, Govindas, Madhavas (3+ years)
- Devotional compositions of Abhangas, Harinaam sankirtan by great Vaishnavas Acharyas like Purandhar Dasa, Kanaka Dasa, Mira Bai, Vallabhaacharya, Surdaas, Jaydeva, Ramdas, Narottama Dasa Thakura, Bhakti Vinoda Thakura, etc. may be selected.
- Singer can be accompanied by self played instruments or a Shruti box.
- Duration : 5 mins.
- Judgement Criteria : Voice & Tonal quality, Raga, Bhava, Rhythm, Diction, Proficiency, Intonation and Overall performance.
Drawing — Keshavas, Govindas (5+ years)
- A theme will be announced on the spot
- Participants must bring their own writing pad, drawing materials.
- Participants will not be allowed to keep any reference images
- Duration : 1 Hour
- Judgment Criteria : Relevance to theme, creativity, and neatness, within the announced time limit.
Public Speaking — Keshavas, Govindas, Madhavas (5+ years)
- Topics will be as follows Participants should select any 1 of the above topics.
Duration :- Keshavas- max 3 minutes
- Govindas- max 5 minutes
- Madhavas- max 5 minutes
- Participants exceeding the time limit may be stopped by the judges.
- Parents will not be permitted inside to stay with the participant.
- Judgment Criteria : Content, clarity of speech, confidence, and audience engagement.
Creative Writing — Govindas, Madhavas (8+ years)
- A topic will be given on the spot; pre-written entries will not be accepted.
- Participants may write in English, Hindi or Marathi. The writing must be entirely the participant’s own original work, completed within the venue.
- Any entry found to be copied, plagiarized, or substantially assisted by a parent or guardian will be disqualified without refund.
- Judgement Criteria : Creativity, legibility, neatness
Bhoga Offering — Madhavas (8+ years)
- The dish offered must be strictly vegetarian and sattvic—no onion, garlic, meat, egg, or alcohol-based ingredients—prepared in a manner suitable as an offering to Sri Krishna.
- The dish must be prepared by the child; parents may help arrange the ingredients on the table but must leave before the competition starts. Kindly avoid using knives or sharp objects.
- The ingredients must be brought in a covered container.
- A list of ingredients used can be written and brought for display.
- Items name should be displayed in front of the prepared dish.
- None of the ingredients or the final dish should be tasted before it is offered to the Lord.
- If tasted, the entry will be disqualified.
- Every participant must wear headgear and an apron.
- Basil Woods Juniors and the Hare Krishna Movement bear no responsibility for any adverse reaction, allergy, or illness arising from consuming any offering brought by a participant.
- Time limit is a maximum of 45 minutes.
- Judgement Criteria : The devotion and effort reflected in the offering, its presentation, nutritive value, and adherence to sattvic guidelines—not taste alone.
